Sushil brings over 30 years of extensive experience in Risk Management and Cards Business with a strong track record in US, UAE and India, within the financial services industry. His career spans across Retail Banking (Citibank, Mashreqbank, Dubai Bank), Payments (Visa), and independent consulting. He has a proven ability to engage effectively with International Banks and Regulatory authorities, specifically in North America, Middle East & Africa and Asia.

Areas of Expertise:

• Credit Risk: Policy Management, Underwriting, Analytics, Collections, Cards / Core Banking and Risk systems.
• Payments Risk: Issuer, Merchant & Acquiring Risk - including fraud, disputes, data breach mitigation and 3rd party agents risk.
• Enterprise Risk: Governance Committees and Board reporting, ERM frameworks and Policies, Risk Appetite, KRIs, GRC system implementation, Cross-functional Integrated Risk Assessment programs, M&A risk, and Regulatory engagements.

Career Highlights:

• Established the risk function from scratch for a start-up bank and finance company in Dubai, building a profitable retail portfolio.
• Converted a loss making Cards Business into a market leading business in 3 years - reduced credit losses by 65% in first 2 years followed by registering a 10x increase in Sales and 45% increase in revenue by revamping sales, product, marketing and pricing  
• Led the investigation and remediation of a significant Cards data breach in a bank, with nil losses
• Thwarted serial cyberattacks from N.Korea state actors on financial institutions in the CEMEA region
• Revamped ERM frameworks, Risk Assessment Programs, KRIs, and implemented a GRC system in a global organization
• Successfully consulted with banks in Asia and Africa - including leading the risk function integration of 2 international retail banks in Singapore, launch of a retail bank in Nigeria, collections and credit risk reviews for large Saudi Banks
